Cáparros Discusses Yesterday's Victory
The head coach of the Armenian national football team, Joaquín Cáparros, attributes the victory against Ireland to having been well-motivated.
“In the first half, the Irish had only one opportunity to shoot at our goal. Winning in such a contest is worthy of admiration,” Cáparros said during a conversation with journalists, as reported by Armenpress.
According to the Spanish specialist, playing four matches within ten days is barbaric, and maintaining good performance is closely tied to the players' recovery process. “We are a team that must dedicate 1000 percent to the game. But to achieve results, we need to avoid yellow and red cards. We won thanks to very good teamwork,” he said.
The Armenian national team faced the Irish national team in the first round of the Nations League B group. The Armenian squad won narrowly, marking a successful start in this phase of the Nations League with the only goal scored by Eduard Spertsyan in the 74th minute.
In the Nations League A group, Armenia's national team will play its next match on June 8, hosting Scotland. That match will kick off at 22:45 Yerevan time.
