Tragic Incident in Armavir: Man Drowns While Trying to Rescue Calf from Irrigation Ditch
Today, on May 3rd, a tragic incident occurred in the Armavir region. Around 1:35 PM, a call was received by the Vagharsapat police department reporting that a citizen had fallen into the irrigation ditch in the village of Aygeshat and was swept away by the water. A similar call was also made to the 911 crisis management center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
According to Shamshyan.com, firefighters and police conducted search operations in a radius of about 10 km, and hours later, a body was discovered approximately 15 km away at a channel in the village of Aragats.
Sources from the scene indicated that the deceased was 41-year-old S. Shamoyan, a resident of one of the villages in the Armavir region. He had noticed that his calf had fallen into the irrigation ditch and jumped in after it. Unfortunately, due to the rushing waters, both the calf and he were swept away.
