Sweden Opposes Referendum on NATO Membership
Sweden's Foreign Minister Ann Linde announced on Thursday that the Swedish government is against holding a referendum regarding NATO membership. This was reported by Izvestia.
“Security policy is determined by the government after decisions are made in parliament, and such issues are rarely put to a referendum,” she is quoted as saying by Sverige Radio.
In her opinion, a referendum could lead to polarization within the country and the spread of misinformation among the population.
