Putin to Visit Armenia in Three Months: Who Will Welcome Him This Time?

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that in June, a session dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly will take place in Yerevan, with preparatory work already underway.

Following a meeting between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday, it was announced that President Putin will visit Armenia in June for that session.

It is worth noting that the last time President Putin visited Armenia was in 2019 for an EAEU meeting, which sparked much commentary because Prime Minister Pashinyan did not personally go to greet him at the airport. Notably, yesterday in Moscow, Pashinyan was welcomed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko.

As preparations for the CSTO meeting continue, discussions have resumed regarding whether the Armenian Prime Minister will greet the Russian president this time. Recall that on February 21, during a phone call, Vladimir Putin invited the Armenian Prime Minister to make an official visit to Moscow in the spring. In turn, the Prime Minister invited Putin to visit Armenia.

Additionally, a five-page statement was released after their meeting, touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and emphasizing the importance of utilizing the potential and experience of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship in accordance with its international mandate.
