US State Department Announces Conditions for Lifting Sanctions Against Russia

A senior representative of the US State Department said to reporters that Washington understands the impact of sanctions on the population of the Russian Federation; however, the target of these sanctions is the Russian government, according to TASS.

It was noted that Western countries are developing measures to minimize the undesirable consequences of new sanctions against the Russian Federation. The US will also begin to take actions against countries that assist Russia in avoiding restrictions and serve as a 'shelter' for its financial flows.

“And once again (I say) to make it clear that there will be consequences if countries attempt to help Russia avoid or circumvent our sanctions or become a haven for Russian assets,” stated the State Department representative.

The US has expressed hope that many of the imposed sanctions will be lifted if military actions in Ukraine cease and the country's sovereignty is restored.
