How the Charging of Customs Duties by Azerbaijanis on Iranian Trucks Affects Armenia-Iran Relations
The charging of customs duties by Azerbaijanis on Iranian trucks on the Goris-Kapan highway does not affect the economic relations between Armenia and Iran, as the flow of Iranian trucks into Armenia is coming through a newly constructed road.
This was stated by the head of the Armenian State Revenue Committee, Rustam Badasyan, during a conversation with reporters in the National Assembly, addressing the question of how much the collection of customs duties by Azerbaijanis impacts economic relations with Iran.
“A large flow is going through the new road to Tatev,” noted Badasyan. In response to a comment regarding the difficulties encountered on the new road, he mentioned that due to weather conditions, there may be problems for one or two days, and similar issues can occur on various roads.
“This does not affect our relations with Iran, considering that the volume that was entering Armenia will continue to enter at the same volume,” said Badasyan. He also recalled the construction of new roads, which will prevent additional issues from arising upon their commissioning.
