Putin Tells Erdogan He Doesn't Mind Meeting Zelensky
Russian President Vladimir Putin informed Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a phone conversation that he does not oppose meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
This information about Putin's stance was shared by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. The diplomat stated that Ankara is working to organize a meeting between the leaders of the two nations. According to him, such an initiative had been proposed even before the start of Russia's military operations in Ukraine.
“The Ukrainian side is ready. The parties are discussing technical issues in Belarus,” Cavusoglu said.
The Erdogan-Putin phone conversation took place on March 6. Prior to that, it became known that during a phone call with Erdogan, Zelensky had expressed his willingness to meet with Putin in Ankara or Istanbul.
