Melikset Poghosyan Fired from Syunik Governor Position: Who Will Be the New Governor?
The government, in its meeting today on March 3, decided to relieve Melikset Poghosyan from the position of Syunik governor.
"Guided by part 2 of Article 160 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and part 1 of Article 6 of the law on Territorial Administration, the Government of the Republic of Armenia decides to dismiss Melikset Poghosyan from the position of Syunik governor," the decision states.
It is noted that Robert Ghukasyan, an advisor to the Prime Minister, is set to be appointed as the new governor of Syunik. This issue is also included in the agenda of today’s government meeting.
