European Parliament Calls Emergency Meeting on Ukraine, Set for March 1
The European Parliament and the leaders of its groups have issued a statement announcing that an emergency meeting regarding Ukraine will be held on March 1. According to the European Parliament's website, the EP has firmly condemned Russia's actions.
“Ukraine is an independent and sovereign state, and its territorial integrity is not subject to discussion. The invasion is unjustified and illegal. It poses a threat to European and regional stability, as well as to the rules-based global order. The attack targets our democratic societal model. This cannot go unanswered,” the statement reads.
It was noted that the European Parliament supports the imposition of sanctions against Russia, holding the Kremlin accountable for its actions.
