Aliyev on Direct Communication Between Azerbaijani and Armenian Defense Ministers

The initiator of establishing direct communication between the defense ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia is the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, stated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"We highly appreciate the efforts of the European Commission and personally of European Council President Charles Michel (in the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia). He has made a significant contribution to laying the foundations for the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. By the way, his initiative to create a direct line of communication between the defense ministers of the two countries is being worked on," Aliyev said in an interview with the Spanish publication El Pais.

According to him, Azerbaijan sees the European Commission’s desire to create a stable environment in the South Caucasus and a trilateral format of cooperation between the countries of the region.
