Mikheil Saakashvili's Health Has Significantly Deteriorated
The health of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has reportedly worsened, according to his lawyers. In particular, it has been noted that his movements have slowed down, as reported by МК.
“At the same time, he told us that he will not stop his hunger strike, which he started on October 1, in his prison cell,” said the politician's defense lawyer Beka Basilaya.
According to him, the former president of Georgia is not feeling downcast and is calling on Georgian citizens to take part in a protest action tomorrow, October 14. The lawyer noted that it is about a nationwide demonstration.
Another of Saakashvili's defenders, Dimitri Sadzaglishvili, has demanded that the penitentiary service allow the politician's personal doctor to visit the Rustavi prison for an examination.
Saakashvili returned to Georgia on September 29 after living abroad for eight years. He was arrested in Tbilisi on October 1. In Georgia, he faces several criminal cases, two of which have resulted in a prison sentence for the former president.
