Will There Be a Need for a Third Vaccination Against Coronavirus? The Minister of Health Responds
During the parliamentary hearings on the coronavirus situation today, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan addressed the issue of a third vaccination against the coronavirus.
“Will it be necessary to carry out vaccinations again? This issue is currently being actively discussed by the WHO, and the HDA is currently summarizing the research conducted by various institutions. I believe that a more comprehensive answer to the question of whether a third booster dose will be necessary will be provided in the near future,” the minister stated.
Avanesyan believes that the probability of receiving a third dose does not mean that the coronavirus vaccine is less effective. “The same measles vaccine is administered not just once in a lifetime, but several times. Does that decrease the effectiveness of the measles vaccine? Of course not. In 2007, Armenia carried out a nationwide measles vaccination, resulting in no local cases in recent years, unlike our neighboring and EU countries,” the minister noted.
