Tense Situation at Aznavour Square as Police Detain Protest Participants
The situation at Charles Aznavour Square in Yerevan escalated as police began detaining participants of the protest. One of the protesters announced through a megaphone that no matter how much they try to detain them, they would not leave the street and would continue to fight even for the children of the police officers. “If you are ready to serve the Republic of Turkey, then we are not,” he declared.
Following this statement, a scuffle broke out between the police and protest participants, resulting in several arrests. The gathered crowd reproached the police and chanted, “Janissary, Turk.” It is noteworthy that a large number of police officers and those in red berets are monitoring the protest.
