Goris Mayor on the 'Black Lake'
Political scientist Edgar Elbakyan wrote a few hours ago that the majority of the 'Black Lake', located at the intersection of the Syunik region and the Kashatagh district of Artsakh, is situated within the territory of Syunik according to Soviet-era maps. However, the Azerbaijani forces have entirely occupied that area. As evidence, Elbakyan presented a video circulated on Azerbaijani networks.
Auroranews contacted Goris Mayor Arushan Arushanyan. In our conversation, the mayor stated that according to Soviet-era maps, the majority of the Black Lake, particularly the left bank flow, is located within Armenian territory, while a certain portion is under Azerbaijani control.
“The lake is not solely under the control of the opposing side; we also have positions there. At this moment, neither our citizens nor those of Azerbaijan can access the Black Lake, as the area of the lake is considered a neutral zone,” our interlocutor said.
