I Was Not a Homeless Person on the Street, and Tsarukyan Did Not Just Give Me a Job: Gevorg Petrosyan
Stating that my position in the National Assembly is solely thanks to Mr. Tsarukyan is not accurate, because we have all been part of the same political force, and each of us has contributed to it with our own authority. This was mentioned today, on February 20, during a conversation with journalists at an opposition-organized act of defiance by Gevorg Petrosyan, a former MP who left the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK). He responded to the suggestion that it would have been more appropriate to renounce his mandate before leaving the BHK, as he attained that mandate through Tsarukyan’s influence.
"I was not someone lying on the street, or someone who made an announcement in the 'Gind' newspaper to get a job, and Tsarukyan just gave me a job. We all contributed to those votes. I was not a homeless person lying on the street to be brought in and given a parliamentary position. I have a history; I have held numerous positions. Let those who have no history think otherwise. Someone without a past once said, 'Gevorg Petrosyan has crossed the red lines,' and I decided to appropriately navigate those red lines," Petrosyan stated.
Gevorg Petrosyan emphasized that he needs to act freely going forward, as the party constraints had hindered him from being more liberated. "I am a more active, more rebellious person, and my rebellion has frequently been regarded as a cause of unnecessary antagonism against the party. For this reason, I have freed the party from that unconventional animosity. My relationship with Gagik Tsarukyan is normal; I continue to respect him. I haven't spoken or had a conversation with him," Gevorg Petrosyan noted.
