Russia and Iran Conduct Naval Exercises
Naval exercises between Russia and Iran have commenced in the Gulf of Oman and the northwestern part of the Indian Ocean. This information was reported by the Interfax agency, citing the Russian Baltic Fleet.
"During the exercises, Russian and Iranian sailors will conduct artillery fire on submerged targets throughout the day. At night, Russian and Iranian ships will perform maneuvers involving the exchange of light signals and anti-diversion protection exercises for vessels in unprotected areas," stated a press release from the Baltic Fleet.
On February 16, Russian and Iranian sailors will practice joint maneuvering scenarios, which include freeing a commercial vessel seized by pirates and extinguishing a simulated fire on a ship in a distress situation.
