Road Conditions in Armenia: Closed and Impassable Highways

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and impassable highways in Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed to trucks and difficult for all other vehicles. The roads from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and to Kary Lake are closed.

In Gegharkunik Province, on the Yerevan-Sevan highway, and on the Gorayk-"Zanger" road in Syunik Province, there are patches of black ice.

According to information received from the Emergency Management Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian EMERCOM in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for all vehicles; however, there are about 370 stranded trucks on the Russian side.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
