Artsakh Foreign Ministry Calls on Countries to Avoid Statements That Negatively Impact Conflict Resolution
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh has issued a statement in connection with an information campaign being carried out by Azerbaijan.
“Recently, we have witnessed an information campaign by Azerbaijan that aims to demonstrate alleged international support for its military aggression against Artsakh, disseminating information about so-called congratulations from political circles in a number of countries and representatives of certain international organizations regarding the 'liberation' of 'occupied' territories.
Setting aside the issue of the veracity of such statements, we find it necessary to reiterate that Azerbaijan’s armed aggression against the Republic of Artsakh unleashed in September 2020, with the support of Turkey and the involvement of international terrorists, has led to immense suffering; thousands of innocent citizens of Armenian descent have been killed and wounded, hundreds are missing, currently held captive, and have been subjected to torture, inhumane and degrading treatment, while Armenian cultural heritage is being destroyed.
We appeal to all countries and organizations to be as cautious and correct as possible in their statements regarding the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, to avoid declarations that could negatively affect the comprehensive resolution of the conflict, international efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region, and to avoid offending the feelings of thousands of people.
Diplomatic etiquette cannot and should not serve as a basis for expressions that could be interpreted in the context of legitimizing and cementing the occupation of the territories of the Republic of Artsakh and justifying international illegal actions,” the statement read.
