We Have Found Ourselves in a Helpless State Unable to Take Action: Senor Hasratyan
It has been more than two and a half months since the signing of the disgraceful statement regarding the cessation of the 44-day war, yet, having more prisoners of war compared to the first Nagorno-Karabakh war, it seems we still do not have such a state structure.
This was stated by the former spokesman of the Defense Army, Senor Hasratyan, on his Facebook page.
"The difference in the approach of the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities regarding prisoners of war from the first and third Nagorno-Karabakh wars is that in the first case, being the victors, we were the ones dictating terms, whereas in the second case, since we were defeated, we have found ourselves in a helpless state unable to take action... Of course, it is preferable to be in neither of these situations, but rather to be in a position of those (including the opposing side) who, having relatives in captivity and awaiting their return, are trying to do what could make their return to their homeland possible...
It is worth mentioning that during the first Nagorno-Karabakh war from 1991-1994, to return the prisoners of war, the sides had established a "State Committee for Prisoners of War Issues," which resulted in what unfortunately we do not have today.
