Explosion Near Israeli Embassy in New Delhi May Be Terrorist Act
An explosion near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi today may be a terrorist act. This was reported by Reuters, citing statements from Israeli officials.
An Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that "although there are no casualties, both India and Israel are considering the explosion as a terrorist act."
Israeli state radio Kan, referring to Israeli and Indian sources, reported that the incident is being interpreted as "a security-related event directed at the Israeli embassy." It was noted that security measures at Israeli embassies around the world have been tightened.
Earlier, NDTV reported, citing police sources, that an explosion occurred today in central New Delhi, near the Israeli embassy. According to the channel, the explosion could have been caused by a small homemade explosive device.
It is also mentioned that the explosion took place two kilometers away from Vijay Chowk Square, where President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other senior government officials had gathered for a ceremony marking the end of the Republic Day celebrations.
