Senate Confirms Blinken as Secretary of State
The U.S. Congress Senate has confirmed Anthony Blinken's nomination for the position of Secretary of State. This information is reported on the official website of the upper house of the American Congress.
Currently, the voting process is ongoing, but Blinken's appointment as head of the State Department has already garnered support from more than 50 senators out of 100.
Anthony Blinken was nominated for the position by President Joe Biden. He has already announced the new administration's intentions to extend the U.S.-Russia treaty on the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction and Limitation measures, as well as his desire to persuade European partners to abandon the Russian gas pipeline 'Nord Stream 2.'
