Trilateral Meeting of Chief Prosecutors of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan Held in Moscow
A trilateral meeting of the chief prosecutors of the Republic of Armenia, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Azerbaijan took place in Moscow. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Armenian Prosecutor's Office, Arevik Khachatryan.
Upon the initiative of the Russian Chief Prosecutor, a trilateral meeting was held on January 12, involving the Chief Prosecutor of Armenia Arthur Davtyan, Chief Prosecutor of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev, and the Chief Prosecutor of Russia Igor Krasnov. The meeting was organized as part of events for the day of the Russian Prosecutor's Office.
The aim of the meeting was to formulate further contacts in the field of international law, create necessary conditions for this, and discuss several current issues. In this context, as a guarantee for the expansion of international legal cooperation, Arthur Davtyan emphasized the need for the rapid implementation of the eighth point of the trilateral statement signed on November 9, 2020, concerning the cessation of hostilities, the urgent return of Armenian prisoners of war and other detained persons in Azerbaijan to Armenia, and ensuring their life and health, as well as securing their other rights.
The Chief Prosecutor of Armenia stressed that the return of prisoners of war and civilians is a crucial guarantee for the implementation of other agreements reached through the trilateral statement and the consolidation of peace in the region. In this regard, Arthur Davtyan also raised the issue of keeping the region free from international terrorism and the need for a collective fight against it.
During the meeting, agreements were reached to continue discussions on the aforementioned issues, as well as other legal matters, in a working mode.
