If Events Continue Like This, Meghri May Face the Fate of Hadrut: Community Leader
Our process of defeat does not disappear; the situation is getting worse. Due to the government, Azerbaijanis have settled on the Meghri border. On November 9, our boys were ordered to leave the positions at Nrnadzor. This was stated by the head of Meghri community in Syunik province, Mikayel Zakaryan, during the interview on 24TV's "Interview" program.
"I was ready to adapt and wait until the sober period would come. Blocking the road is not our style, but the situation is serious. We have the example of Hadrut. If the rest of the territories in Armenia continue like this, Stepanakert's fate is threatened; we associate it with Hadrut. If events continue like this, Meghri is expected to face the same fate," he said.
Speaking about the events that occurred in Syunik the previous day, Zakaryan noted: "We are a people living on the border, and our problems must be resolved. We went to listen to the Prime Minister's response at the Syunik border; 12 buses of police forces were brought in, arriving with combat readiness, and we couldn't be received at the gates of Syunik," he explained regarding the situation.
The community leader assured that they represent the overwhelming majority opinion of the population and are not guided by political interests.
