It Will Take About 15 Years to Demine the Nagorno-Karabakh Region
Following the military operations, it will take approximately 15 years to clear the Nagorno-Karabakh region of explosives, according to Samvel Mesropyan, director of the Nagorno-Karabakh Humanitarian Demining Center.
“I have been working in this profession for 20 years. Based on my calculations, it will take about 15 years to detect, de-mine, and clear everything in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh,” Mesropyan stated, adding that operations will extend to villages as well.
The director of the Nagorno-Karabakh Humanitarian Demining Center also reported that among the detected hazardous items are tank and artillery shells, hand grenades, and cluster munitions.
