Military Prosecutor's Office Receives Documents on State Procurements from the Ministry of Defense and Sends Them to the Investigative Committee
The Military Prosecutor's Office of Armenia has received documents related to state procurements conducted for the needs of the armed forces and sent them to the Investigative Committee for further examination. This was announced by Gor Abrahamyan, advisor to the Armenian Attorney General, on his Facebook page.
Recently, there have been public discussions in mass media and social networks regarding potential corruption manifestations and risks in state procurements carried out for the Armed Forces. In light of this, Abrahamyan noted that the Military Prosecutor’s Office is continuing its investigations within its mandate to protect the state’s property and non-property interests in the defense sector.
In this context, the Military Prosecutor’s Office has already requested and received the necessary documentation concerning state procurements carried out for the needs of the armed forces, including those under martial law (such as for supplies and specifically, combat boots).
As a result of the analysis of the information contained in these documents, they were forwarded to the prosecuting authority, specifically to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, with a mandate to prepare materials in accordance with Articles 180-181 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia and to decide on further actions.
