EU May Impose Sanctions Against Turkey's 'Illegal Actions'
The European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling on EU leaders to maintain unity, take steps, and impose tough sanctions in response to Turkey's "illegal actions," according to 1lurer, citing Reuters.
The resolution is advisory in nature, and a final decision on sanctions will be made by the Council of the European Union. An EU diplomat noted that the issue is not easy to resolve, as Turkey is a key partner of the EU in several areas, resulting in a lack of unity among EU governments on this matter.
Leaders of EU member states are set to discuss relations with Ankara during a summit scheduled for December 10-11.
