Parliamentary Commission Gives Negative Conclusion on Lifting Martial Law
The Permanent Commission on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of Armenia provided a negative conclusion regarding the issue of lifting the martial law declared in the country.
According to "Armenpress", the draft decision to lift martial law was presented by the "Enlightened Armenia" faction. "We believe that lifting martial law as soon as possible will contribute to taking at least some steps to alleviate the crisis we are facing," said faction member Gevorg Gorgisyan.
Government representative, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan mentioned that it is necessary to approach the complete cancellation of martial law cautiously, while the commission chairman, Andranik Kocharyan, proposed to postpone the discussion of the issue for a week.
By the commission's vote, the draft decision on "Lifting Martial Law" received a negative conclusion. The issue of including it in the agenda of the parliamentary extraordinary session will be discussed on November 26 at 11:00 AM.
