Military Police Urges Voluntary Surrender of Arms Acquired During War

The Military Police of the Republic of Armenia has issued a statement urging citizens who were drafted into military service through mobilization or other means to voluntarily surrender arms and ammunition acquired during the course of military operations.

The announcement states: “Since the outbreak of hostilities on September 27, and during the declared state of martial law in the Republic of Armenia, numerous citizens have received arms and ammunition in an authorized manner and have proceeded to the front lines. After the establishment of a ceasefire as part of a trilateral agreement, many of them have already returned from the sites of military operations but have not yet surrendered the arms and ammunition in their possession.”

The Military Police once again urges citizens who were drafted into military service through mobilization or other means to voluntarily surrender arms and ammunition they acquired during military operations.

Reminder: According to Article 235, Part 5 of the RA Criminal Code, a person who voluntarily surrenders illegally held weapons, military ammunition, explosives, or explosive devices is exempt from criminal liability, provided that their actions do not constitute another criminal offense.
