Member of Parliament: The Human Rights Committee Has Not Done Any Important Work in Two and a Half Years

Member of Parliament Sofia Hovsepyan from the 'My Step' faction wrote on her Facebook page: "Unfortunately, when I receive information about the exchange of prisoners, the first person that comes to mind for whom I should turn to is the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Mr. Tatoyan, who is always willing and responds immediately. I am sure he is fully doing his job, but it is another unfortunate situation when I see that this man is alone with his team of Human Rights Defender’s staff, while the Human Rights Committee in the National Assembly of Armenia has not literally done any important work in the past two and a half years, apart from promoting various non-state-friendly programs. Today they are silent, they do not knock on thousands of doors and do not demand an urgent resolution of the prisoner exchange issue.

Yes, I can do that and I am doing it within my capabilities and powers, but where are they? Why is an entire committee not functioning or only operating at the level of individuals, while they have always stood out with fake speeches and tried to appear peace-loving? You claim to be peace-loving, I accept that; everyone in our country is peace-loving, and your propaganda is irrelevant. Do that on an international level and resolve the prisoner issue as soon as possible. Everything is mixed up, everything is in chaos. Work, ladies and gentlemen, you are not just for speeches and fake propaganda. I will delete any offensive statements. This is a call that has addressees, and let the addressees read it and respond. I have many questions to them, but the time has not yet come to ask those questions; the urgent issue at this moment is the military captives. I have immunity from trolls; do not waste your time."
