70-80 Percent of Martuni City in Artsakh Destroyed, Mayor Reports
Approximately 80 percent of buildings in the city of Martuni, Artsakh, have been damaged due to Azerbaijani shelling. This information was shared with reporters by the Mayor of Martuni, Edik Avanesyan.
“The city has suffered significant damage, with many devastations. About 70-80 percent of the city has been destroyed. Kindergartens, houses, and schools have been affected,” said Avanesyan.
He added that in addition to the regional center, eight other communities in the Martuni region have also been shelled.
“About a thousand residents have returned to the city already, while before the war, the population was 6,200. During the height of the war, only around 400 people remained in the city,” stated the Mayor of Martuni.
