Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations Transfers List of Missing Persons in Nagorno-Karabakh to Red Cross and Azerbaijan

The head of the International Cooperation Department of Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations, Vladimir Solovyov, has handed over a list of missing persons from the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Azerbaijan. According to the TASS news agency, Solovyov's meeting with them took place on Friday in Stepanakert.

The list was compiled at the request of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and mostly includes the names of young individuals. The ICRC representative assured that they would assist in the process of finding the missing persons.

“I have also transferred the same list to the Azerbaijani side in the framework of their cooperation with their Ministry of Emergency Situations. The Azerbaijani side has stated that they have already started to carry out work,” noted Solovyov.

As a reminder, on November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan reached an agreement regarding the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, signing a statement that ceded seven regions of Artsakh to Azerbaijan, including Shushi and Hadrut, with the exception of one village, as well as the villages of Askeran and Martuni, and the villages of Talish and Mataghis from the Martakert region.

According to this statement, a contingent of Russian peacekeeping troops is being deployed along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor, including 1,960 servicemen armed with small arms, 90 armored vehicles, and 380 units of automotive and special equipment.
