All Utility Services Free for Residents of Artsakh for One Year
On November 17, the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, convened an expanded working consultation to discuss mechanisms for state support to help the population overcome the post-war social situation.
The country's leader noted that in light of the severe socio-economic conditions, the government is obliged to take measures to alleviate the social burden on the population and restore a normal rhythm of life as quickly as possible.
According to the president, in the first phase, a number of social programs will be launched, notably that all utility services (natural gas, electricity, water, etc.) will be free for residents for one year, as well as communication services (mobile and fixed-line connections, internet) with reasonable volume limitations.
A next important program will provide financial assistance to families in need whose per capita income is below the threshold of 60,000 AMD of the minimum consumer basket. All citizens who are homeless will receive a one-time state assistance of 300,000 AMD per person.
Moreover, the restoration of residential houses damaged during the hostilities will commence in the coming days. “The government is committed to resolving the housing issues of all our citizens who are homeless within the next few years, and in the meantime, the state will continue to provide financial support to the aforementioned families in the form of rent compensation,” the president stated.
During the consultation, several questions related to the financial support allocated to the territorial defense forces and other social programs were also discussed.
