We Have 553 Infected Patients Waiting for Hospitalization: Their Condition is Severe or Critical
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has received Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan. The minister presented the current situation regarding the coronavirus to the government leader. He noted that during the wartime, the situation related to the coronavirus has remained tense. The healthcare system, having to face a new challenge related to the treatment of individuals injured due to military operations, is also continuing to care for thousands of citizens who have tested positive for the coronavirus.
“Similar to the previous tense season in June and July, even more so, 26 medical facilities have expanded their operations to deal with the coronavirus. We have seen an increase in volumes and still have no reasons to expect a decrease, as the numbers remain high,” the minister said.
He informed that currently, there are 553 citizens waiting to be admitted to hospitals for coronavirus treatment. Their condition is either severe or critical. “However, in the last 7-10 days, we have seen such numbers rise up to 850 citizens. We are trying to increase the capacity of available hospital beds and oxygen points to reduce the number of those waiting. Currently, we have 39,564 active cases of coronavirus, of which only 2,500 are being treated in a hospital setting. The rest are being treated at home,” he stated.
