Armenia is Not the Aggressor: Argentine Foreign Minister Expresses Concern Over Escalation

The Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs, Felipe Solá, stated that the Armenian side is not the aggressor in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and expressed concern over the escalation that has begun in the region.

According to reports from “Armenpress,” the Armenian embassy in Argentina provided an unofficial translation of the minister's statements.

“We have the third most important Armenian community in the world after the United States and France. That is why, three days ago, I requested the Argentine ambassador in Washington to initiate connections to see if we could play any role on behalf of the Armenian communities to demand an additional ceasefire from the three large Armenian communities. At this moment, we need to consider two things: first, Azerbaijan, as a wealthy coastal country, has greater strength and has clear material support from Turkey, while Armenia is receiving help from the Minsk Group to achieve a ceasefire, as Armenia continues to suffer more casualties due to Azerbaijan,” the minister noted.

He added that they are trying to maintain permanent contact with the Armenian embassy.

“However, the escalation of this 27-year conflict, since 1991-1992, needs to come to a halt. Nagorno-Karabakh is an enclave that has declared its independence based on Armenian culture, the Armenian language, Armenian education, and more. We are very concerned and fully understand Eduardo Eurnekian's anxiety. I have two Armenian friends in foreign policy; moreover, two out of my ten friends are Armenian, I do not have any Azerbaijani friends,” he stated.

Felipe Solá emphasized that the conflict is very concerning and he can confidently state that Armenia is not the aggressor.
