SATM Director Visits Fish Farm
On August 12, the head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia, Gevorg Avetisyan, visited the "Sevan Iskhan" fish farm in the Karchaghbyur community of Gegharkunik Province, as well as the "Sevan Aqua" LLC located in Lake Sevan, where the fish of the Iskhan species are kept in net enclosures.
The head of the inspection body assessed the situation, evaluated the quality of the work being conducted, and discussed issues related to production, export, labeling, and packaging integrity with the farm operator. He emphasized the importance of adhering to established veterinary-sanitary safety norms, as well as technological instructions, ensuring animal safety against infectious diseases, and implementing preventive and therapeutic measures.
Mr. Avetisyan also expressed a willingness to support export-related matters within the framework of SATM's functions.
In Armenia, fish farming operations are monitored annually to obtain information regarding undesirable substances in batches, verify the sanitary conditions of farms, ensure the presence of documents confirming the safety of feed used for fish, and detect the presence of residual substances in fish and water. Continuous monitoring will also be carried out this year.
