Professor Epidemiologist Arpik Hasratyan Passes Away in Russia, Preliminary Diagnosis Indicates Coronavirus
Professor Arpik Hasratyan has passed away at the "Novomoskovski" multidisciplinary medical center in Russia, reports "MK." The 69-year-old woman was hospitalized from her residence on March 23, initially admitted with high fever and breathing difficulties. However, her condition did not improve, and on Friday afternoon, she was moved to another hospital where COVID-19 was preliminarily diagnosed.
Hasratyan succumbed to the illness a few days later, last evening. Doctors are verifying whether the cause of death was indeed the coronavirus. According to preliminary information, she had not traveled abroad recently and had no known contact with COVID-19 patients.
Previously, she served as a professor at the Institute of Epidemiology of Sechenov University and was a prominent specialist in the field of viral hepatitis treatment.
