Residential Building Collapses, Residents Relocated to Temporary Shelters
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia received a call on March 12 at 17:31 from the National Crisis Management Center regarding the collapse of a residential building at 40 First Street in the village of Artavaz, Kotayk Province. There is a risk of further collapse.
A firefighting team from the regional rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was dispatched to the scene. It was found that the front wall of the third apartment (approximately 7 sq. m) of the first entrance of the building (about 600 sq. m) had collapsed, rendering the entire building unsuitable for further residence.
The rescuers cut off the electricity supply, halted the gas supply, evacuated Anishka M. (born 1954) from the building, and secured the area. Residents of the building have been relocated to temporary shelters.
