President Presents His Views on Constitutional Amendments to R. Badasyan
The President of the Republic, Armen Sarkissian, held a working meeting with the Minister of Justice, Rustam Badasyan. This was reported by the press office of the President of Armenia.
The interlocutors discussed the agenda of constitutional amendments in Armenia, judicial reforms, the fight against corruption, the protection of human rights, international cooperation in these areas, as well as several other issues.
The Minister informed the President about the activities of the expert commission on constitutional amendments. Emphasizing the importance of constitutional reforms, President Sarkissian stated that the Constitution is a legal document that evolves and develops in response to contemporary challenges. According to the President, any change or improvement to the Constitution should be based on the principle of the rule of law, contributing to the smooth and natural development of our state.
He also outlined his ideas and approaches regarding the constitutional amendments. He highlighted the significance of broad public participation in the process of drafting the country’s fundamental law. Armen Sarkissian mentioned that the presidential administration is ready to cooperate with both the ministry and the expert commission on constitutional amendments, offering its suggestions and capacities.
Both sides emphasized the importance of such meetings.
