Video: Police Provide Details on Shooting Incident in Kapan

On the night of March 8, the Kapan medical center alerted the Kapan police department that a 36-year-old man had been brought in with injuries.

According to the police, operational-investigative groups dispatched to the medical facility determined that the deceased man was taken to the hospital from the beginning of the road leading from Kapan to Kajaran, a resident of the village of Dzorastan.

Through operational and investigative measures, Kapan police also established that a dispute over personal matters had occurred between him and a 56-year-old resident of Kapan at the mentioned location. During the altercation, the latter fired at the 36-year-old man with a firearm and subsequently discarded the weapon into the Voghji River.

Two hours after the incident, around 03:30, the suspect was located and brought to the Kapan police department, after which he was presented to the territorial investigative unit where he confessed and was arrested.

Measures to find the weapon used in the crime and the preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on the grounds of murder are ongoing.
