Video: Over 5 Million Drams Embezzled in Gegharkunik Province

Fact-finding data has been obtained regarding the illegal activities in Gegharkunik Province by the Main Department of Criminal Police's anti-corruption and economic crime unit.

Specifically, it has been revealed that a contract worth 38 million 941 thousand 580 drams for the construction of a community center was signed in 2013 between the Gegharkunik Provincial Governor's Office and the head of the Shorja community, which was effectively founded and managed by the latter.

The actual contractor, who is the head of the community, took advantage of the opportunity created by the negligence of the relevant official of the Gegharkunik Provincial Governor's Office to exploit his official position, falsifying execution acts and handover-acceptance reports concerning the proper execution of the works, and embezzled a particularly large sum exceeding 5 million drams in total.

During the preparation of the materials, the damage caused to the state was entirely restored. The criminal case initiated by the Main Department of Criminal Police has been sent to the investigative committee.
