Tragic Incident in Yerevan: One Victim of Hit-and-Run Found on Car Roof
A fatal hit-and-run incident occurred in Yerevan shortly after midnight today. The driver of a Toyota vehicle with license plate 01 PV 001 struck two pedestrians crossing the street at an unauthorized area on Paronyan Street.
According to Shamshyan.com, the driver did not flee the scene and called the Yerevan emergency medical center at 1-03. The medical team that arrived promptly assisted one of the injured pedestrians and transported him to number 1 university hospital. Following that, the driver contacted the Yerevan traffic police's operational management center.
One of the victims, who died at the scene, was discovered by arriving traffic police officers on the roof of the vehicle. The police and investigators have identified the hospitalized victim as 67-year-old Hayk Elizbaryan, a resident of Yerevan. Authorities are working to determine the identity of the deceased man, estimated to be between 55-60 years old.
A criminal case has been initiated based on Article 242, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code (traffic accident causing death due to negligence).
