FFA Signs Cooperation Memorandum with 3 EAEU Member Countries
The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) signed a cooperation memorandum with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus on January 24. Representatives and officials from the football federations or professional leagues of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus are currently in Armenia.
The meeting held at the FFA office on January 24 was attended by FFA President Armen Melikbekyan, FFA Vice President Armen Nikoghosyan, FFA Secretary General Arthur Azaryan, and FFA national teams manager Hrachya Ghambaryan. Among the guests were the Executive Director of the Russian Premier League (RPL) Sergey Cheban and the Head of the RPL International Cooperation Department Elena Kobyakova, as well as the President of the Kazakhstan Premier League Olzhas Abraev, the Head of the Competitions Organization Department of the Belarusian Football Federation Igor Tsaplyuk, the President of the Kyrgyz Football League Nurbek Atakanov, and the Vice President of the Kyrgyz Football Federation Dastanbek Konokbaev.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in various areas of football, including coaching education, youth football, futsal, women's football, and work with fans. Special attention was given to the discussion of various details related to the Professional League.
Following the discussions, FFA President Armen Melikbekyan signed the cooperation memorandum with the mentioned representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus. RPL Executive Director Sergey Cheban announced that they have no objections regarding the memorandum, but RPL President Sergey Pryadkin expressed a desire to sign it personally, likely during the next meeting between the parties. Cheban also confirmed that regardless of the signing of the memorandum, considering the order of the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, from July 1, 2020, Armenian football players will not be considered "legionnaires" in Russia.
