Simon Martirosyan Competes for Title of Best Weightlifter of 2019
Olympic silver medalist and double world and European champion Simon Martirosyan (109 kg) is competing for the title of the best weightlifter of 2019. The International Weightlifting Federation is conducting a survey on its official website, which sports enthusiasts can also participate in.
Simon Martirosyan has stood on the first step of the podium in two major competitions in 2019: the World and European Championships. Both gold medals were his second in the respective competitions.
In total, five weightlifters are contenders for the accolade. Among them are Olympic champion and triple world and Asian champion Shi Zhiyun from China (73 kg) and Olympic champion, quadruple world and European champion Lasha Talakhadze from Georgia (+109 kg).
The international federation is also selecting the best female weightlifter, but Armenia does not have a representative in this category. Voting is open until February 10.
