Residents of Gorelovka Block Interstate Road to Armenia
Residents of the village of Gorelovka in the Ninotsminda region have blocked the interstate road leading to Armenia as a sign of protest.
Participants in the demonstration told Alik media that the villagers are demanding a solution to the water problem and will not reopen the road until the regional governor arrives to meet with them.
“We do not trust the local authorities; we are also addressing the Prime Minister to personally follow up on this issue,” one of the protesters stated in an interview with Alik media.
It is noteworthy that on January 16, there was a dispute in the village of Gorelovka between local residents and the chairman of the Ninotsminda City Council (Sakrebulo), which ended in a brawl.
Villagers claim to have water issues, while the chairman of the Ninotsminda City Council, Sumbat Kyureghyan, asserts that the village has no water problems and that the entire conflict stems from the ambitions of a few individuals.
Today, the residents of Gorelovka were also expecting the governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Beso Amiranashvili.
