Several Armed Forces Servicemen Embezzled Large Amounts of Aviation Fuel: NSS

The National Security Service of Armenia, committed to combating crime and the strict implementation of its legally assigned functions, has uncovered a case of embezzlement using official positions in an especially large amount.

Through operational and investigative measures, it has been determined that several contract servicemen of a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, from June to August 2019, used their official positions with a unified intent to commit theft through the misappropriation of someone else's property. They reached an agreement regarding the theft of aviation fuel intended for planned training flights that were not conducted during that period. As a result, they embezzled 10,838 liters of aviation fuel, equivalent to 5,288,944 Armenian Drams.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Department of the NSS of Armenia under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia regarding the apparent criminal act. An investigation is underway.
