17-Year-Old Boy Who Brutally Murdered Peer in Masis Arrested

On December 25, a decision by the head of the investigative department of the Ararat regional investigative office of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Ambakuni Grigoryan, led to the establishment of a special investigative group. Investigator Andreasyan submitted a motion to the general jurisdiction court of Ararat region, requesting that the court impose a two-month detention as a measure of restraint against 17-year-old Sargsyan G. from Masis city.

As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Judge Tatul Poghosyan conducted a closed court session and upon returning from the consultation room, granted the motion of the investigative body. Sargsyan G., accused of brutally murdering a peer, was subsequently detained. According to G. Shamshyan's information, he has been transferred from the court to the Abovyan Correctional Institution (juvenile colony).
