Turkey to Bring Bill for Military Aid to Libya to Parliament Agenda, Erdogan

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced during an expanded meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party that a bill to send military aid to Libya will be brought to the agenda as soon as parliamentary work resumes. He stated that the basis for sending troops to Libya is the "Memorandum of Understanding on Security and Military Cooperation" recently signed between Turkey and Libya's Government of National Accord led by Fayez al-Sarraj.

Erdogan indicated that the bill will be included in the parliamentary agenda when the legislative body resumes work on January 8 or 9, according to ermenihaber.am.

Commenting on Libya’s internal political developments and Turkey’s position on the matter, Erdogan noted, "Turkey has consistently opposed the attacks by the rebel general Khalifa Haftar on Libya’s legitimate government, led by Fayez al-Sarraj. We have provided, are providing, and will continue to provide all kinds of support to the authorities in Tripoli against the rebel general, who is backed by various European and Arab countries. Additionally, Libya and our country are adjacent in the Mediterranean, as our jurisdictions intersect there."
