Russia Plans to Enhance the Capabilities of the 102nd Military Base
Last year, a key focus in the relations between Armenia and Russia was security. The Russian Ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopyrkin, stated in a conversation with reporters that 2019 was marked by strengthening the security of the two countries.
“This year, several steps have been taken to improve the effectiveness of the combat readiness of the 102nd military base located in Gyumri. We have achieved significant results here. We have plans to double the combat capabilities of the base without increasing its number of troops,” said the ambassador.
Sergey Kopyrkin noted that significant work is planned for the development of the base’s infrastructure. He mentioned that Armenian contractors will also be involved in this process.
In 2019, the relations between Armenia and Russia in the military-technical sector also developed successfully.
