Customs Committee Discovers 3 kg of Ketamine and 10 g of Methamphetamine
The State Revenue Committee's Anti-Smuggling Department has thwarted another attempt to illegally transport drugs and psychoactive substances across the border of the Republic of Armenia.
Specifically, the department's staff subjected the travel bag belonging to an Iranian citizen arriving at the Meghri customs checkpoint from the Islamic Republic of Iran to a customs inspection. During the inspection, large quantities of approximately 3 kg of ketamine and about 10 g of methamphetamine were discovered. The substances were found in polyethylene packages concealed in a hideout at the bottom of the suitcase.
The materials compiled by the Anti-Smuggling Department have been sent to the Investigative Division of the State Revenue Committee, and a criminal case has been initiated under the first part of Article 267.1 of the RA Criminal Code. The Iranian citizen has been arrested.
Note: A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty according to the law by a legally binding court verdict.
