Turkey Launches First Locally Made Submarine
Turkey has launched its first locally produced submarine during a ceremonious event attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as reported by Ermeni Haber.
The submarine, named "Piri Reis," measures 68 meters in length and can remain submerged for 50 days. It will be operated by a crew of 40.
Previously, Erdoğan announced the "New Type Submarines" project, which aims to produce seven locally made submarines. Reports indicate that the second submarine, named "Hızırreis," is currently in the technical outfitting phase, while the construction of the third and fourth submarines is underway.
During the event attended by the Turkish President, the production of the fifth submarine was also officially launched. The production of all seven Turkish-made submarines is expected to be completed by 2027.
